The First Anniversary, 2011 A CELEBRATION OF THE FIST ANNIVERSARY OF THE BACKSTABBING OF THE ORGANIST
Two weeks after Easter, 2010, at precisely 12:15, the organist was back stabbed.
(Bell Toll)
Since that time many good things have occurred for the victimized organist. All of which are significantly better in all respects than was the situation a year earlier i.e. better clergy, better music, better churches, better organs and more weddings not to mention spin-off of all this.
Well why are you writing this, you say, if things are so good? The reason is to keep in mind that a wrong has been done and it can never be erased from history. Also, to keep in mind that it took place at Easter. Also that musicians should keep in mind that there are certain types of people that will stab you in the back, and it always bears watching. You never know until the sneaky thing happens...but there are usually harbingers...so use your wit and wisdom to protect yourself and remove yourself from the situation as I did in this instance.
So, at this first anniversary, it is good and meet and right so to do, that we all remember this incident into the future, and hold up this example as a witness and a warning of the potential presence of plotting and planning along with ill deeds directed at the person who has done so much for the music program at this church.
Keep in mind that had this organist never set foot in this church, they would be still using a very small organ with no grandeur and no ability to musically inspire.
Time moves on and many have passed away at this church during the year. Services continue at this church, but with no significant musical offerings, no carillon, no audiences, no weddings to speak of, and no conversation in the musical community. The Memento Mori aspect of this church tends to assert itself more and more.
Unfortunately the Easter season was the setting of choice by the church for this perpetration.
